This morning I passed the building and my study and made my way to two hospitals in Birmingham. In one hospital is a young mother who is an active member our church family; she is recovering from surgery. In the other hospital is another young mother fighting multiple health issues. She is between churches at the moment and called me when she went in the hospital. We are praying for her recovery physically and spiritually.
I visited these two young mothers with the prayer that I could be encouraging to them and to pray with them and their families for their recovery. However, I left both hospitals encouraged by them. Their strength, their resolve, their desire to do what is right, and overall their devotion to their families. They spoke of their children and the support of their husbands (one of the husbands was in the room and had spent the night withies wife at the hospital. His devotion encouraged me as well.)
I don’t have a point or an application for today. I am simply humbled by the honor the Lord bestowed upon me to be around His people and in His service.
Dear Father, thank you for allowing me to serve You, the great, compassionate, and gracious God. May I keep my focus and goal on doing Your will. In Jesus’ name.
