Do you know where you were and what you were doing, July 25, 1997? Like the day the Challenger Exploded or the day the Twin Towers fell. This is a day I will remember. It seems only yesterday to me. I stood there, watching those around me. I bowed in prayer over the events unfolding before me. I stood there waiting. Then the doctor handed the nurse a small person, a boy. She and her assistants evaluated him, scored him, and told me to follow them to the nursery. There they let me give him his first bath.
Fourteen years ago today, Andrew Scott McCown entered our life as our son, our only son and our only child. Life has never been the same. I do not mean that in any derogatory way. Sure Andrew is a typical young teen, but he is a great kid. He is a leader at school and at church. He keeps his grades up, he participates in academic competitions, basketball, football, and Beta Club. He reads scripture in services, helps run the computer and sound during services, participates in Bible Bowl, leads an occasional song, and has presented lesson during a Youth Led Assembly. He is a great young man. His mom and I are proud of him and continue to pray for him and his future.
Happy Birthday, Andrew!
