- What a world!
- What has happened?
- How did it get this way?
- Can anything be done to turn this around?
Leaders and citizens suppress truth in wicked ways. So-called educated people ignore and deny that there is a Designer, a Creator – God. Others know there is a God, but refuse to follow Him making up their own gods in nature or of self. People are dioing what they want to do, whatever they desire. The world is pro-choice in everything! This leads to sexual immorality of ALL kinds with various partners with no concern for the reusling consequences.
The world is full of hatred, avarice, envy, murder, deceitfulness, divisiveness, fake news, and malicious activity. You have to watch your back everywhere you go and wherever you are. People despise God and hate those who try to live godly lives in this day and age. Pride and narcissism rule the day. New ways of sinning seem to appear daily. and there is no respect for authority. Kindness is now an attitude and behavior of the past.
We are all guilty to some extent. We either participate or we encourage those that do. when we point a finger we have three pointing back at ourselves.
What is the answer? How can things change?
The answer is: The same way they changed two millennia ago. What you just read is a paraphrase of Romans 1:19-2:1. The world today is like the world of Paul’s day.
The answer then and now is God’s grace in Christ. “When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners . . . . God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. ” (Rom 5:6,8 – NLT)*
“Can’t you see that his kindness is intended to turn you from your sin?” (Rom 2:4b – NLT)
Yes, the world is against God, Christ, righteousness. The world is against what is good and right. But the hope for the world is the same hope that Paul shared – the Gospel of Christ. May we have that hope and share that hope and turn the world upside down for Christ.
