This morning I am getting ready to attend a funeral of a lady who recently had her 100th birthday. 100 years! In a couple of months I will be only one half of her age. She was my age when I was born. 100 years!
One hundred years! Imaging all the changes she experienced in 100 years. She lived during the following Presidential Administrations: Woodrow Wilson, Warren Harding, Calvin Coolidge, Herbert Hoover, Franklin Roosevelt, Harry Truman, Dwight Eisenhower., John Kennedy, Lyndon Johnson, Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford, Jimmy Carter, George H Bush, Bill Clinton, George W Bush, Barack Obama, and to see one last election and Donald Trump as President Elect. She experience changes in transportation, from horse and buggy to modern cars. The Wright brothers had their record setting sustained and controlled flight only 13 years before her birth. We could look at communication, the advancement of the telephone, radio, and television.
A lot changed in her 100 years. But somethings did not change.
- Love is still love.
- Kindness is still kindness.
- Compassion is still compassion.
- Salvation is still through Christ.
- God’s Word remains the same.
100 years and what is truly important never changes.
