What is worse than finding a worm in you apple? . . . . . Finding half a worm in your apple!
If you get all your produce from major grocery chains, you may not understand that those who eat fresh off of the tree apples sometimes get a great surprise after a bite or two. Some worms eat from the outside of the fruit others eat from the inside. How do worms get into apples without leaving evidence on the outside? An insect lays an egg in the apple blossom. As the fruit matures, the egg hatches and the larva (worm) begins to eat his way out of the apple.
Someone is ahead of me. You are already thinking that this is like sin. Sin begins in the heart of a person and manifests itself in thought, word, or action. James describes this in Jas 1:14-15, “But each person is tempted when he is lured and is enticed by his own desire. Then desire when it has conceived gives birth to sin, and sin when it is fullly grown brings forth death.” (ESV). Maybe that is why David wrote in Psalm 51, “Create in me a clean heart, O God and renew a right spirit within me.”

Good food for thought, the quicker we can recognize the start of sin, the quicker we can defeat or overcome that sin.
