Last night, Dalton Counts, one of our Tide4Christ students at Central delivered the devotional thought. His lesson referenced the events of September 11, 2001 from his mother’s point of view. Dalton was less than 2 years old on that fateful day and has only the memories of the stories he has been told. In his lesson last night he referenced 2 Chronicles 20:12. In the context of this verse the Moabites, ammonites, and some Meunites are waging war against Jehoshaphat and the Kingdom of Judah. This verse is a part of Jehoshaphat’s prayer.
“O our God, will you not execute judgment on them? For we are powerless against this great horde that is coming against us. We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on you.” (2Chr 20:12)
What a great prayer of faith! A prayer that puts me in mind of Paul’s statement in Romans 8:26, “Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.” Prayer is where we pour out our heart, our needs, our fears, our desires, and our faith to God.
What is the great horde against you? You may not know aht to do, but God does, turn your eyes on him.
- Facing a life changing decision? Turn your eyes to God.
- Is the stress of life bringing you down? Turn your eyes to God.
- Are you dealing with family issues? Turn your eyes to God.
- Have your friends turned their backs on you? Turn your eyes to God.
- Are you facing evil influences at work or school? Turn your eyes to God.
- Do you have fear? Turn your eyes to God.
There is no where else to turn. There is no helper like our God. There is no God but God. Turn your eyes to God.

Excellent. I will be speaking at a ladies day in the spring and the topics they gave me was surviving divorce and second is depression. Sounds like really “perky” lessons, but necessary. I will possibly use this scripture and your comments on the depression lesson. Thanks and keep up the good word. Oh, by the way, ANCHOR DOWN.
Anchor Down? Not Roll Tide?
