Praise God!

sunriseOn the way to my study this morning I listened to a minister who was describing Isaiah’s realization of God’s true holiness and man’s sinfulness in Isaiah 6. This minister had some great thoughts that helped me see more about worship and praise that God is due.

As I have had time to reflect on Isaiah’s words, I recalled more praise from Isaiah a few chapters later:

You will say in that day: “I will give thanks to you, O LORD, for though you were angry with me, your anger turned away, that you might comfort me. “Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and will not be afraid; for the LORD GOD is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation.” With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation. And you will say in that day: “Give thanks to the LORD, call upon his name, make known his deeds among the peoples, proclaim that his name is exalted. “Sing praises to the LORD, for he has done gloriously; let this be made known in all the earth. Shout, and sing for joy, O inhabitant of Zion, for great in your midst is the Holy One of Israel.” (Isa 12:1-6- ESV)

Praise God for the Salvation He Brings

  • Though our rebellion angers Him, He offers comfort.
  • God is our salvation and our strength
  • Salvation from God is the source of joy in life.

Enlist Others to Praise God

  • Give Thanks to God
  • Call on His Name
  • Let others know what God is doing and has done, so they too will praise Him.
  • Great is the Lord!

As one of my instructors and mentors would say, “Boys, that’ll preach.”
