Journey to Egypt

Joseph, Joseph

(lyrics: Scott McCown / tune: Louie, Louie)

Chorus:

Joseph, Joseph;

Don’t you know;

God was with his life.

Yeah, yeah, yeah!

(I said) Joseph, Joseph;

Don’t you know;

God was with his life.

Yeah, yeah, yeah!

Verse 1:

Joseph loved his colorful coat;

But to his brothers he seemed to gloat.

They threw him in a pit one day,

Then sold him to a land far away.

Verse 2:

In Potiphar’s house he did work;

Not one of his chores did he shirk.

Mrs. Potiphar lied, Joseph went to jail;

But that’s not the end of Joseph’s tale.

Verse 3:

Pharaoh dreamed about cows and corn.

The meaning left Pharaoh forlorn.

Seven years of plenty, seven of draught;

This was the meaning, Joseph had no doubt.

Verse 4:

Joseph’s brothers came to Egypt for grain.

They came to Joseph, and knew not his name.

He told them how God had spared his life,

And if they moved in with him, they would have no strife.
