Every now and then I will pull a book of the shelf, blow the dust off and skim through the pages.  This morning I did just that with, “Gus Nichols’ Sermon Outlines Vol. 1.”  On pages 108 – 109 I found the following outline (edited to fit in this blog):

What is the Christian Life?

I. Introduction:

  1. Rom 1:17, “The just shall live by faith.”  Rom 6:4 “Walk in NEWNESS of life.” 2 Cor 5:17, “New creation.”  The Christian life is a new kind of life.
  2. Let us consider some of the characteristics of this new way of life.

II. The Christian Live is a Wonderful Life.

  1. The Christian life is a life of faith – Rom 1:17 Produced by the Word – Rom 10:17.
  2. . . . A life of obedience unto Christ – Heb 5:8-9
  3. . . . A life of repentance – Acts 2:38
  4. . . . A life of worship and devotion to God – Acts 2:42
  5. . . . A life of prayer – Jas 5:16
  6. . . . A life of spiritual growth and development – 1 Pet 2:2
  7. . . . A life of Bible study and of searching for wisdom and understanding – 2 Pet 1:5; 3:18

III. The Christian Life is the Whole of Life – Is Everything.

  1. A Life of self-denial – Titus 2:11-12
  2. A life of sacrifice and service unto God and man – Rom 12:1-2
  3. A life of good works – 1 Cor 15:58
  4. A life of joy and gladness – 1 Pet 1:7-8
  5. A life free from fear and dread – Heb 13:5-6
  6. Enables on to love life and see good days – 1 Pet 3:8-11
  7. A life of absolute trust in God – Matt 6:33
  8. A richer and more abundant life – John 10:10
  9. A justified life – Rom 4:7-8
  10. A life of Christian influence  – Matt 5:14-16
  11. A life of fellowship and partnership with other Christians – 1 Jn 1:7
  12. The only life which can bring eternal life – Rom 6:22, Gal 6:7-9, 1 Tim 6:12; Rom 2:4-11

There is a lot to think about in this outline . . .
