Removing the Stains

An advertisement from my childhood promised to remove “ring-around-the-collar” every time. A well-known infomercial of a decade or two ago demonstrated the stain removing power of an oxygen boosted powder. The products these commercials promoted seemed almost too good to be true and to be over-selling the abilities of their products. You may think otherwise.

Last week we explored the stains James writes about in James 1 and 2. The stains the world makes on our lives and souls. You can read that HERE. We examined how to remain free of stains. My problem is that I did not always remain stain free and I forgot to avoid those stains. I can look back and see how stained my life should be.

But is isn’t stained.

But it isn’t stained. Yours does not have to have stains either. There is a way to remove those stains and someone I know that can remove them. I’ll let Paul and John explain:

“But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that being justified by his grace we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.”  Tit 3:4-7

“But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.”  1Jn 1:7

Come to the cross. Come to Christ and be clean!

  1. Very good reminder. It will remove stain which lets us know that we sometimes become stained by the world even as a Christian, But we have a fool proof, 100% stain remover. So very comforting. Thanks and have a great day.

  2. Renewing of the Holy Spirit. When God breathed the breath of life into Adam’s nostrils he became a living spirit or soul, but when he sinned his spirit was separated from God. The washing of regeneration and renewing puts man back in the covenant relation with God.

When man is baptized his sins are forgiven and he receives the gift of the Holy Spirit which is the renewing.
