From the road between my house and the study at Parrish Church of Christ comes this morning’s Top Ten Ways to Destroy Your Local Church.

10. Gossip about fellow Christians to other church members.

9. Talk negatively about what “they” are doing down at “the church.”

8. Do not support efforts (events) with your attendance and do not invite others to attend.

7. Refuse to sing songs you do not like or know well.

6. Always think that someone else will take initiative and lead a project.

5. Never volunteer and always be too busy to help in a ministry area.

4. Complain to the elders (leaders) about sermons, classes, teachers, study material, and the budget.

3. Give what you have “left” at the end of the week/month, do not “purpose in your heart” what you will give.

2. Consistently arrive late when you do attend.

And the number one way  . . .

1. Only attend assemblies that do not inconvenience you.

Please note that I wrote this with my tongue firmly implanted in my teeth.  I pray you want to help the local congregation not destroy it.
